POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR DIVERTING AND CONVERTING CEMENT SHIPMENTS ACROSS FOUR STATES The Anambra State Police Command, in its continued efforts to combat economic and cyber-related crimes, has arrested two suspected fraudsters involved in the diversion and illegal conversion of cement shipments across Anambra, Edo, Rivers, and Delta States. The suspects, identified as Mr. Mmaduabuchi Udo and Mr. Abubakar Babangida, were apprehended by operatives of the CP Monitoring Unit on 23rd June 2025 in Abuja, following an intelligence-led investigation. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects specialized in using social media platforms to profile cement dealers and extract sensitive operational information from unsuspecting victims. They allegedly leveraged this data to facilitate the diversion of cement consignments intended for legitimate businesses. ALLEGED SEALING OF PDP SECRETARIAT BY THE POLICE. The FCT Police Command is aware of the news making rounds alleging that Police sealed off the PDP Secretariat in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja. The Command wishes to categorically state that this information is false, misleading, and does not reflect the true situation on ground. Police officers were only deployed to the venue to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in line with their constitutional mandate. At no time was the Secretariat sealed off by the Police. ANAMBRA POLICE EXPRESS SADNESS OVER AN UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF A POLICE INSPECTOR IN AWKA The Anambra State Police Command has expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of Police Inspector Okolie Amechi in Awka.  The incident, which occurred on the evening of June 15, 2025, was allegedly due to an accidental discharge by his 10-year-old son. The son unaware of the state of the AK 47 rifle assigned to the Inspector, pulled the trigger and struck the Inspector on the back and his second child on the hand. Regrettably, Inspector Amechi was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty at the hospital, while the second victim was said to be responding to treatment. Meanwhile, the AK47 rifle has been recovered while the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue. SECURITY IN ANAMBRA: POLICE ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS WHO ARE PART OF A CRIMINAL SYNDICATE THAT DEFRAUDED A VICTIM OF TWO TRUCKS LOAD OF CEMENT WORTH SEVENTEEN MILLION NAIRA Following a complaint received by Police Operatives attached to the 33 Police Station on how one Edwin Emeka of unknown address defrauded an unsuspecting member of the public of two trucks load of cement worth Seventeen million naira only, arrested one Nnanna Charles and Okoye Chukwunonso in possession of the rip-off goods. The victim met Edwin online and has been in communication with him. Immediately the cement was supplied, all attempts to get to Edwin proved abortive, before the Police Operatives traced the goods to different shops in the State.  The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogations to provide more information on how to arrest Edwin and other syndicate members. ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS A SUSPECTED DEALER OF VANDALIZED EQUIPMENTS/ITEMS IN FEGGE, ONITSHA Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad RRS Awkuzu, acting on credible information on 14th June 2025 by 4.15pm arrested one Maduka ‘M’ aged 40 years at Fegge, Onitsha, a suspected dealer of vandalized items and equipment. The team also recovered bags of vandalized copper wires, large quantities of high tension wires, copper coil and other transformer equipment.
