ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE 
– Dr. Iyabo Obasanjo, former Senator and daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially declared her intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.


The declaration, which has sent ripples through the political landscape of the Gateway State, marks her formal return to active frontline politics. Dr. Obasanjo, a seasoned academic and public health expert, expressed her commitment to transforming the socio-economic fortunes of Ogun State through "visionary, inclusive, and data-driven governance."

 Addressing a gathering of supporters and stakeholders, Dr. Obasanjo emphasized the need for sustainable infrastructure, qualitative education, and a robust healthcare system that serves every citizen, regardless of their social standing.


Public Service Experience: Drawing on her tenure as the Ogun State Commissioner for Health and her subsequent representation of Ogun Central in the National Assembly, she highlighted her track record of legislative and executive experience.
Economic Vision: Her platform focuses on leveraging Ogun State’s strategic proximity to Lagos to boost industrialization, agricultural value chains, and youth employment.
